These are very low maintenance plants that will reward you with an amazing number of colorful flowers. Petunias are disease and pest resistant and heat tolerant. We also have bicolor petunias and double petunias. Try the wave variety of the petunia flower, which is fast-growing, easy care and covered with blooms throughout the season. Our petunias are available in colors from white, yellow, all shades of pink and salmon, all shades of lavender to purple and reds. Here at Park Seed, we have many different types of petunias to suit every need. Plants are very heat loving and quite drought tolerant, although consistent moisture (water once a week) is preferable. Petunias require full sun and rich, well-drained soil. If you want more height, choose Tidal Wave, which is almost two feet tall and spreads as much as five feet. Surface sow seeds and just gently press into the soil, as light aids germination. It is suggested by the University of Minnesota that planting take place indoors in early spring, enabling a greater variety and quantity of the flowers, and giving the seedlings enough time to grow before transplanting. When flowers have finished, remove and feed with a liquid fertiliser, as this will encourage another flush of blooms to appear. This is a mixed pack of flowering Petunias which will bloom from early Spring through to late Autumn. The purple wave, which was the first color this variety came in, measured two inches of growth per day! Today, the wave petunia comes in many colors that are just as vigorous. The seeds of the petunia are extremely tiny, making planting them challenging. Plant Petunia Seeds: Sow petunia seed in cell packs or flats, press into soil but do not cover. Prolific, warm-loving annual with green leaves and large flowers. Every Spring people rush into their local garden centre and grab a few Petunias, but with seedling prices ranging from 2.00 to 4.00 per punnet and most.
